Word of Faith
Squeezing through the narrow gate (or turnstile!)
New York City has the subway and in London there is the underground (or, to use the local language, “the tube”). It is a great way of getting around a city, although I must admit that I prefer to use a bus or even to walk.
Jesus and fire
Whenever I hear the Gospel that we have for this Sunday, I always think of my six years as a seminary student out in Rome.
It is still summer: relax … but be alert and prepared!
The summer seems to be racing by at such a rapid pace (but then it always seems to do so!) and I think that soon we will be beginning to enter what we call those “dog days of summer.”
Gaining wisdom of heart
Many of Jesus’ parables are “hard to hear” because they are so challenging.
Ask, seek, knock … be amazed as the door opens!
In our Genesis reading, Abraham takes the respectful posture of prayer with the LORD, “drawing nearer” and beginning his request that God should spare the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of the innocent people living there.
