Second-graders at St. Ambrose School in Latham have been preparing for their first reconciliation by learning about good choices; they also drew pictures for the "Color a Smile" project to be sent to nursing home residents across the country....

Students from St. Francis de Sales School in Herkimer visited the Albany Institute of History and Art to learn about ancient Egypt. They also saw Hudson River School paintings....

At Holy Trinity parish in Cohoes, 10th-graders made 50 wreaths sold at the Winter Walk and at Troy's Victorian Stroll to help the homeless. Faith formation students made Christmas cards for area shut-ins and overseas troops.

Several parish youth participated in the city's live nativity, sponsored by the Cohoes Council of Churches: DEANGELO BARBOSA, KRISTIAN DICKENSON, NICK MILLER, MERCEDES AND GIA PEELE, MAX RICCI, JOSHUA UMHOLTZ and LUCAS VELIKOV....

Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville thanked its fifth-graders for raising $1,000 through a bake sale to help the needy, and congratulated parish youth who are on the championship-winning Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School volleyball team: ALLY CONIGLIONE, SIENA WILDER and MICKEY PIEL....

St. Francis of Assisi Church in Northville cheers the Northville Central School girls' varsity soccer team, who won their fourth consecutive Section 2 Class D championship and then the state championship. St. Joseph's in Broadalbin notes that the Broadalbin-Perth Central School boys' varsity soccer team won the Class B state championship....

Corpus Christi parish in Round Lake, St. Edward's in Clifton Park and St. Mary's in Crescent have been offering a series of five retreats for sixth- and seventh-graders on "The Heart of Christ," this year's Amazing God evangelization initiative theme....

PAIGE EDWARDS and LEIGHANN BULICH of Sacred Heart parish in Lake George are going to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands this year with the People to People program. They're currently fundraising for the trip....
