On Dec. 8, 7 p.m., Corpus Christi parish in Round Lake will have a holy hour for women and girls, with prayer and eucharistic adoration, followed by discussion and fellowship. Call or text (631) 664-0202....

The Webelos Den of Cub Scout Pack 15 at Sacred Heart parish in Troy thanked parishioners for donating two boxes of toiletries the scouts delivered to Joseph's House, plus $93 for Ronald McDonald House of Albany....

For the holidays, St. Ann's parish in Fort Ann has adopted two families, each with two children, through Fort Ann School's Family Outreach Center. Parishioners can provide a gift for a child or make a cash donation to the FOC weekend food backpack program....

Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson thanked all who donated coats for students at Albany colleges to whom REV. PAUL SMITH ministers; many students from warm climates have never been in cold weather. Extra coats will be donated to the Sister Maureen Joyce Center....

St. Kateri parish in Schenectady celebrated the feast day of St. Nicholas Dec. 3 with songs from the parish children's choir and school glee club and skits about the saint. The Knights of Columbus made breakfast. A free will donation benefited the parish school and faith formation/youth ministry programs. On Dec. 9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., St. Kateri will have a fair trade market and alternative giving sale in the school gym....

For their first "Faith in Action" project, children grades K-six at Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville raised $126 for the USO's (United Service Organization) Phone Home Free Network to allow servicemen and women to call home for free.

WINSTON CLAPPER is the parish's newest Eagle Scout. An altar server who's a sophomore at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, he made a cart to transfer books and other materials to different floors for the Burnt Hills Library as a service project....

Children from Sacred Heart School in Troy sang Christmas songs at Colonie Center shopping mall Dec. 4. In related news, a portion of the Sacred Heart School concert Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m., will be dedicated to members of the military....

During Troy's Victorian Stroll Dec. 3, the Roarke Center in Troy, a Catholic Charities program recently profiled in The Evangelist (see www.evangelist.org), held its annual bazaar, and St. Jude parish's children's choir performed next door in St. Anthony's Church....

St. Michael's parish in Cohoes will have a "birthday party for baby Jesus" Dec. 20, 6 p.m....

MATTHEW BURROWS of Sacred Heart parish in Lake George made shelves for parish storage spaces as an Eagle Scout service project....

A Race for Education at St. Francis de Sales School in Herkimer was deemed "high-energy" and "fun-filled," with students topping off walking laps around the gym with learning to line-dance. They also had an impromptu limbo contest....

St. Mary's parish in Glens Falls welcomed new assistant scoutmaster EDGAR OCAMPO, who recently relocated to the area from the Philippines. There, he was the leader of more than 80 scouts in two troops, including five young women who became Eagle Scouts. He has completed Wood Badge training, the highest level of leader training available....

St. Anthony's parish in Schenectady will have a children's concert at its Christmas Eve Mass, with a bell choir led by TINA CHERICONI-VERSACI and more....

Youth ministry teens from Holy Trinity parish in Johnstown planned to Christmas carol at the Trackside Homes residence....

Before Thanksgiving, fourth-graders at St. Mary's School in Ballston Spa donated three vans of non-perishable food and hygiene items to Christ Episcopal Church food pantry to help families in the community. Students and professors from The College of Saint Rose in Albany visited the school and performed an experiment to determine whether an organism was alive using knowledge of characteristics that all living things share....

Many students from St. Joseph's in Greenwich were involved in a holiday craft fair at Greenwich High School Dec. 3; proceeds benefit the class of 2019.

On Dec. 9 after 5:30 p.m. Mass, St. Paul's parish in Schenectady will offer "cookies, cocoa and Christmas carols"....

On Dec. 12 and 19, St. Mary's in Oneonta will have the sacrament of reconciliation 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Taize prayer from 7-8 p.m....

At St. Ann's in Fort Ann, Catholic Daughters of the Americas have been repurposing hymnals into angels and selling the crafts for $10....

St. Peter's in Delhi and St. John the Baptist in Walton announced "Conversation, Questions and Answers" Dec. 12, 7 p.m., in the parish hall, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. REV. EDWARD GOLDING will discuss the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the impact of the Crusades and an overview of Catholicism....

The men's service team from St. Pius X parish in Loudonville volunteered to clean up Schuyler Inn in Menands, which houses 40 families in need and was preparing for a New York State inspection. The young adult ministry was invited to peel potatoes for Compassion in Action's Thanksgiving meals and attend a cookie frosting and decorating night in preparation for a parish Advent event....

St. John the Evangelist parish in Schenectady had a craft show and bake sale Dec. 2 with 19 vendors, a basket raffle, Santa and Mrs. Claus and a white elephant table....

St. Mary's in Clinton Heights planned many Advent events: a blessing of Advent calendars at Masses Dec. 3, a blessing of the straw from parishioners' Nativity sets Dec. 10 and a blessing of the bambinelli (baby Jesus figurines) Dec. 17....

ANDY LOPEZ retired as a tour guide for the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany. He and his wife, JOAN, also cleaned and painted the cathedral's crypt, where past bishops of the Albany Diocese are interred.

The cathedral marked the 165th anniversary of its dedication Nov. 21; a "then and now" insert in the parish bulletin noted that, when the cathedral was dedicated, POPE PIUS IX was pope and BISHOP JOHN MCCLOSKEY headed the Albany Diocese as its first bishop....

Sacred Heart parish in Stamford had 24-hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Dec. 1-2 and a living Rosary Dec. 5, and will offer an Advent parish mission, "Being Church in the Now by Living the Sacraments," Dec. 11-13 at 7 p.m. Call (607) 652-7170....

Parishioners of St. Joseph's in Stuyvesant Falls/Stottville started a novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe Dec. 1; it continues through Dec. 9, starting at 5:30 p.m. every night but Dec. 7....

Our Lady of Fatima parish in Delanson is displaying a folk art-style painting of the Blessed Mother in the sky over the church, painted by a MR. PROULX whose wife was once a parishioner. "Please take a moment to enjoy this treasured piece of our parish history," the bulletin said....

Ss. Anthony and Joseph parish in Herkimer prepared for the Diocese's annual consecration to Mary with a mini-retreat in late November....

Our Lady of the Valley parish in Middleburgh had its annual "ladies' Advent tea" Dec. 2. OLV also noted that this year's pie sale raised $2,049 for the parish building fund....

Parishioners of St. Paul's in Hancock built a float for the town's Dec. 2 Christmas parade....

St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish in Schenectady notes that, with LARRY GRIMMER now serving as parish manager, a new trustee for the parish is sought to advise the pastor, serve on the pastoral council and ensure the proper stewardship of the parish....

CARMEL FOLTAN is a new trustee for St. Thomas parish in Delmar. Each parish in the Diocese has a separate civil corporation structure: The Bishop serves as president, the vicar general as vice president, the pastor as secretary/treasurer and two parishioners as trustees. They safeguard the financial stability of the parish and ensure it's fulfilling its mission. PAT GALLAGHER recently completed his six-year term as a trustee. ADELE NUCCI is St. Thomas' other trustee.
