Transfiguration parish in Speigletown/Schaghticoke announced a Mass schedule change: The site of the 4 p.m. Saturday vigil Mass will alternate each month. In October, it will be in Schaghticoke for the entire month; in November, Speigletown, and so on. SUSAN BARRY is the parish's new operations manager, taking on the administrative duties that had been managed by MARY CLEMENTE, who remains parish bookkeeper.

Parish life director DEACON CHRIS KEOUGH wrote in Transfiguration's bulletin: "How does Mass make you feel? I arrived for Sunday Mass occupied with what was on my mind. As the Mass began, I left behind what was troubling my mind, and focused entirely on participating with everyone else in the Mass. It is a wonderful feeling to let go of everything else and be totally immersed in the holy Eucharist. Some people tell me they want to 'feel good' as they leave Mass. I couldn't agree more, and I suggest we will feel good if we participate fully in the Mass"....

St. Luke's parish in Schenectady has begun its annual penny drive, marking its feast day by collecting pennies and loose change to be used for mailings and related expenses. Last year, more than $400 was collected. A feast day celebration Oct. 22 will include 11 a.m. Mass in honor of St. Luke, food, raffles and more. It's the parish's only fundraiser....

Beatles tribute band Hey Jude will give a concert Nov. 4, 7 p.m., at St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Schenectady. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students). Call (518) 356-1072. REV. JAMES BELOGI, pastor, was given a stole hand-knitted by parishioners of St. Madeleine Sophie and is comprised of 20,688 stitches, each one a prayer. Children from St. Madeleine Sophie School participated.

St. Madeleine Sophie is starting a men's prayer group. It meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., moderated by REV. LEO MARKERT....

At Mater Christi parish in Albany, KEN TOOMEY retired as head of the usher program, replaced by SHANNON LENET and JIM BIGLEY....

St. Mary's in Oneonta will rededicate its newly-renovated church Nov. 11, 5 p.m., at a Mass with Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger. An open house for the wider community and parish will be held Nov. 11-12, noon-4 p.m. To prepare spiritually, communal penance services will be held Nov. 7, 12:10 and 6:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 23 of St. Mary's just attended a fall "camporee" in Walton, will do a 20-mile hike Oct. 28 and will hold a court of honor to recognize scouts for their achievements, including rank advancement and merit badge completion, Oct. 25.
