Have you heard? YOUTH EDITION
Last week, St. Catherine's Center for Children in Albany had a cookout for homeless persons at the city's Corning Preserve. St. Catherine's, a longtime provider of human services for children and families throughout the region, provided services to nearly 500 homeless people last year alone. The agency's Project Connect supports chronically homeless adults in Albany County who are struggling with mental health and substance abuse disorders; the Marillac shelter provides emergency shelter and related support services. Siena College in Loudonville has been named one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education and one of the top schools in the northeast, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features Siena in its 2018 guide to "The Best 382 Colleges" in America. Students reported that professors are generally "very approachable and accessible outside of class," and that "Siena College places as much emphasis on teaching as research"....

The Albany diocesan Catholic Schools Office noted staff changes for the new school year: CARA FANTAUZZI is accounting associate, helping to manage the finances of diocesan high schools and the CSO; MEGAN SCOTT is director of prevention services for educational programming on substance abuse awareness and prevention, funded by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services; KATHLEEN YANAS is director of advancement and strategic partnerships, marketing the mission of Catholic education; and NINETTE KONDRATOWICZ remains as interim associate superintendent of schools, having served in that role since January. The CSO has launched a search for its next director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, hoping to have the position filled by the start of the school year.
