Everyone knows one another

The one thing I would criticize about the Church is not allowing priests to be married. If a priest was married and had children, he would be better qualified for certain parts of the job:

• He could understand and communicate with children better.

• He would have a better understanding of what it is like to be a teenager today if he had a teenage son or daughter of his own.

• He could understand more about the relationship between a man and a woman because he would have a relationship with his wife.

• He would be able to do just as much or even more than a traditional, unmarried priest could.

But even though the Church can be criticized, it is still the family of God. I know this. I go to the Saturday night Mass at my parish. Not a lot of people come to this Mass, but I don’t mind, The people who go are very tight. Everyone knows who everyone else is. You know when someone is not there.

Most of the people there have seen me grow up, and many of them are like family to me.
