Investigator's update: Cooperation appreciated Mary Jo White, the Manhattan-based attorney who is leading an independent investigation of allegations of sexual misconduct against Bishop Howard J. Hubbard, issued the following statement last week: "The independent investigation is proceeding actively, and we have received cooperation from many members of the public. Since our investigation began on Feb. 16, we have spoken with more than 140 people, including priests, former priests and lay people. We thank them for their cooperation. "We are today reminding and urging anyone who may have information relevant to the allegations of sexual misconduct by Bishop Howard Hubbard to come forward at this time. "You can contact us by phone at 1-800-901-6853 or by e-mail at independentinquiry10@yahoo.com. We will honor any requests for confidentiality to the full extent permitted by law. "We want to thank the public again for their cooperation as we continue our investigation." In announcing the scope of her investigation at a press conference in Albany in February, Ms. White said that the death of Rev. John Minkler would be included insofar as it was relevant. Coincidentally, as her statement was issued last week, the Albany County coroner announced that the priest had committed suicide.
