Man in the Moon

BY KATHERINE DELANEY

There are many things in my life that remind me of my faith, such as crucifixes, my family and my cat. Yet there is one specific symbol that holds the greatest significance for me. It is something that we see often and, in my opinion, is the clearest example of God: "the Man in the Moon."

"The Man in the Moon" gives me a feeling of serenity. When I look out my window and see the face on the moon, I think that it is God keeping watch over me. I feel very safe because He is protecting my family and me.

When I was younger, my mom showed me "the Man in the Moon." I didn't understand it entirely, but as I got older, I understood and developed my own meaning for him.

When I was in sixth grade, I had an assignment to look at the moon every night. I would look outside and see "the Man in the Moon." it would remind me of my faith.

It was then that it occurred to me that it is amazing that a face is visible to us here on Earth. It makes me believe that it was put there intentionally for us to be reminded that He is always with us in our daily lives. From then on, I considered "the Man in the Moon" holy.

It is important for us to recognize that there are many symbols that God has put on our earth to remind us of His presence. People often overlook the remarkable things in our world the beauty of the sunrise, the love from our pets and other clear signs of God's love. People take them for granted. When we do stop to think about these symbols, we are brought closer to God.

He put these things in our lives for a reason; to strengthen our faith and trust in Him.
