Three women appointed as parish life directors; sacramental ministers named
Bishop Howard J. Hubbard has appointed three women as parish life directors for parishes in the Albany Diocese: Dorothy Bunal to St. Patrick's, Cambridge; Lorraine DeCuyper to St. Joseph's, Cohoes; and Sister Diane Schoff, CSJ, to St. Joseph's, Greenfield Center. Parish life directors administer parishes, and see to their growth and development. They work in conjunction with sacramental ministers. Newly appointed to St. Joseph's, Cohoes, was Rev. Michael Cournoyer; Rev. Martin DeRose was named to St. Joseph's, Greenfield Center. A priest is already in sacramental ministry in Cambridge: Rev. Liam Condon.
Dorothy Bunal holds a master of arts degree from Boston College and a master of arts in teaching mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Among other positions, she has worked as a parish visitor at St. Anthony's parish in Troy; taught at Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam and Cathedral Academy in Albany; and was pastoral associate at parishes in Fulton and Canastota, N.Y.
She holds a certificate in pastoral care from the Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center in Syracuse.
Her hobbies include music, crafts and cross-country skiing.
Lorraine DeCuyper has a master of arts degree in theology from St. Bernard's Institute in Rochester.
The mother of five, she has been coordinator of religious education at St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Guilderland, where she was involved as well in youth ministry, the Renew program and couples club. From 1998 until her new assignment, she was pastoral associate for pastoral care and Christian service at the parish. She has also been an instructor in sacramental theology for the Diocese's Formation for Ministry program.
Her interests include hiking, gardening and playing the piano.
Sister Diane Schoff, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, has a master's degree in pastoral ministry from Boston College.
She has taught religion, been a parish ministry and pastoral associate, and served as director of religious education in two parishes in the Syracuse Diocese.
Since 1995, she has been in St. Louis as administrative assistant to the mission coordinator of her order.
