Parents of Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children is a very active parents' group begun by Sheila Shea and Lisa Mariconti, two parents who each have children who are deaf. The group publishes a quarterly newsletter, sent to a mailing list of about 150 people; hosts an email network; and sponsors educational programs and social events, including "silent dinners" where signing is the only form of communication allowed.
