A funeral Mass was offered Dec. 28 at St. Christopher's Church, Staten Island, for Rev. Santino Titta, who died Dec. 24. He was 87 and had been a priest of the Albany Diocese for 52 years.

A native of New York City, he served as associate pastor at St. Mary's and St. Vincent de Paul parishes in Albany; St. Mary's in Frankfort; St. Anthony's, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. John the Baptist, all in Schenectady; St. Patrick's in Ravena; and St. Patrick's in Catskill.  In 1982, he was appointed administrator of St. Patrick's in Catskill; in 1988, he became pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle in Cherry Valley, where he remained until his retirement in 2000.

The year he retired, he also marked his 40th jubilee of priesthood. On that occasion, he told The Evangelist, "I love my priesthood and being a priest because of the satisfaction of helping people."

It was a simple sentiment for a priest who lived a half-century of ministry quietly. He is surely welcomed with quiet joy by God into the rewards of heaven.
