A funeral Mass was offered Aug. 21 at the Siena College chapel, Loudonville, for Rev. Martin Hanhauser, who died Aug. 16. He was 98 - the oldest friar in his order's Holy Name Province - and had been a Franciscan friar for 77 years and a priest for 72.

A native of St. Mary's, Pa., he spent 40 years in higher education, teaching at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany and then at Siena College in Loudonville from 1945-82. He was a professor and head of the math department and chaired the science division from 1963-66. Later, he served in various ministries in Rhode Island, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Interment was in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
