A funeral Mass was offered Jan. 26 in the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, for Sister Mary Theresa Murphy, who died Jan. 20. She was 93 and had been a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 71 years.

As a sister, she returned to St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing as an instructor and director of nursing service; she became the hospital's assistant administrator until 1972, then was president and CEO until 1980. She guided St. Mary's through constructing a new hospital building and adding services. Later, she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany and spent many "retirement" years as office assistant for the diocesan Counseling for Laity Office.
