A funeral Mass was offered Feb. 12 at the chapel at Siena College, Latham, for Rev. Capistran Hanlon, OFM, who died Feb. 5. He was 81 and had been a Franciscan friar for 60 years and a priest for 54.

A native of Rutherford, N.J., he taught in the sociology department at Siena for four years, went away to study and came back to teach there for another 37 years, receiving an endowed chair at Siena, the Kiskis Chair. He also did weekend ministry at St. Mary's parish in Albany and assisted with the Diocese's Pre-Cana marriage preparation, Engaged Encounter program and Marriage Tribunal. He was a chaplain for the local law enforcement community and other groups.

Interment was in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
